Gas Forge Work Shop with Jay Hayes
Jay was a very pleasant and knowlegeable expert to visit with. He is a combustion expert with a background in electrical engineering with marine experience in the Corp of Engineers serving on dredge vessels out of Beaumont. His large manufacturing company in Weston, WVa serves many different industries including a shrinking glass industry in WVa. Also he is a major supplier of very large scale programmed Chritmas lighting systems such as seen in San Antonio. He loves his blacksmith activities and is always eager to share his talents with others around the country. If your were wanting to participate but could not place an order, please send Jay Hayes a note and he will have your kit ready to ship without delays. ![]() A total of 20 forge kits were purchased by HABA members. One single burner kit is still available from HABA (plus some insulation supplies) and it will be at the HF Tool Fair in October! We built 9 gas forges from kits at the workshop, and demonstrated how to use these and other commercial forges safely at their maximum capacities! Special thanks to Les Cook for the welding service, and to Jerome Klawinsky of C&M Supplies for hosting the event. Lunch for 60+ attendees was provided by C&M and was prepared by our favorite HABA bbq cooking and pit fabrication expert, Robert Killbuck. When & Where : Saturday, Sept 20, 2003 : C&M Sales 3565 S.Loop 336 East Conroe, Texas 800-392-7002 We worked in the AP Tools shop with large covered patio. |
