Bowling with the Smiths
Dave Koenig at Components in Houston, Texas
This February we featured bowls and vessel making at Ed Malmgren's shop in Houston to support the Empty Bowls Initiative. Dave Koenig was the featured demonstrator and several members brought their forges and tools for all to share. We made a lot of nice looking bowls while we learned basics of vessel forming.
Eight HABA members contributed eleven vessels to Empty Bowls. Money raised from this
program benefits the Houston Food Bank. See the hyperlinks for more information about Empty
Bowls. Members made most of the vessels at the March HABA meeting. All the vessels except the set of four by Richard Boswell are made of carbon steel. Richard’s are made of stainless steel.
A special thanks go the following HABA members for their donations:
- Rico Ramirez,
- Andrey Lebed
- Tee Hines
- A.J. Garret
- Stephen Newton
- Dave Koenig
- George Marsden
- Richard Boswell

If you have some photos you would like to share, please send them in! Photos taken by Richard Boswell (who says he never takes enough!) are presented on several pages to shorten your download times:
Here is a collection of photos of some of the tools we saw and used at the demo.
